Winter Sewing Retreat
November 21-23, 2025

Registration $275
+ materials

Join Jenny Ambrose in the beautiful boreal forest to sew clothing over together!  This retreat offers guided tutorials and plenty of unstructured work time and 1-1 support. Learn how to prepare your work, choose the best equipment, tools, and practices, and notions as well as finishing techniques. You can choose to work on clothing, activewear, swimwear, or lingerie over the weekend. Bring unfinished projects, start something new or why not do it all!

About the Course
This sewing retreat is flexible in terms of your goals. The demonstrations are all optional and designed to showcase the strengths of your host. However, you are more than welcome to "go rogue" and work on any garments you wish! Jenny also has a lot of experience in making clothing, knitwear (including activewear), lingerie and children's clothing. Wherever your interest lies, she can share some helpful tips and tricks!

In addition to sewing, there are optional outdoor activities available, such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and yoga. For those interested, there will be a yoga flow class on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Ness Creek offers rental services for skis and snowshoes, so be sure to come prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing.

What to Bring

Please bring your pattern, fabrics, and any project notions, as well as your sewing machine and serger (if you have one). Don’t forget to include your tool kit, which should contain a cutter, rulers, and a cutting mat. To make the most of the retreat, we strongly encourage you to schedule telephone consultations with Jenny. This will help you plan your project goals and ensure that you have all the necessary supplies well in advance. Additionally, consider bringing slippers, as it’s nice and cozy in the Jack Millikin Centre!
